Blackdown Community choir is an open access choir which has been running for 8 years, who sing unaccompanied and enjoy songs in exciting harmony from around the world as well as traditional songs from these shores. From September 2010 the choir will be led by Caroline Rigby. There are no auditions and all are welcome from experienced singers to complete beginners. All songs are learnt by listening but sometimes music is provided for those who like it. The atmosphere is deliberately informal - people feel welcome, supported and unpressurised. The choir sings for fun and some performance (not compulsory!) New members are always welcome. Come to a taster workshop at the beginning of each term or phone and try it out any time. If you can talk you can sing!

We are a group of ordinary men and women who have a real heart's desire to be a church that is relevant in society today. We want to show that a personal, loving relationship with God can impact everyone around us and is the most exciting of all adventures.
We are an independent charitable trust run by a board of elders and are members of the Evangelical Alliance. We are not associated with any denomination.
We are in the process of converting a former industrial building into both a church and a centre for Wellington. Our Youth Area, currently under renovation and due to be open in June/July, will be an incredible resource for the local community with full facilities, a skateboarding centre and other activities. A youth Leader has just been appointed full time in readiness for this venture.

Local clubs often join us for friendly but spirited competitions, and members regularly have examples of their work accepted for regional exhibitions and the media.

Modern fencing has retained the basic aim of duelling - hitting your opponent without getting hit yourself! Many of the same rules still apply. Today's fencers use lightweight blunted swords to play a game of skilful, physical chess. As one of the original modern Olympic sports, fencing rewards mental agility over power and size.

Once you are strong enough to hold a sword for some time (9 to10 years), age is no limit - some of the British Veterans team are in their late seventies.

Venue: Princess Royal Sports Complex, Wellington Junior School, South St, Wellington. 01823 668718.
